Part 3
It just took took two rings for the man on the other end to pick up the phone.

"I hope you have good news," said the cold metallic voice, which sent chills through the man's skin. He took a deep breath, he knew he'd have to tell him directly,
Beating around the bush and giving explanations would be foolish, he would be wasting more time, bringing more risk to the operation. .
"Negative," he blurted, " the objective escaped, Vulcan's dead, I tried to save him, but I was assaulted too, I barely managed to escape."
He then held his breath, wondering what his fate would be.

"Tut tut, I'm dissapointed. Turn's out we're not the best after all, are we." the said the voice, it was more of a statement than a question.
"I apologise sir" he replied.
" I'll deal with you later, did you notice which way she went?" the voice asked.
" No sir, like I said, I was assaulted too, I was trying to get out of there alive!" the man replied.
" Stay where you are, someone will get in touch, I have another job for you, and I hope you won't screw up this time."
" Oh no sir",
" Wait for your instructions, and call me back after you've finished your objective. That'll be all."
The line went dead.
The man shivered in the cold air, he glanced at his watch. It showed 1:05 AM. Cursing the bitch of a woman who had shot him, he got back in his car, and waited as he'd been instructed.

12 miles away
Kate drove through the suburbs towards HQ. The powerful headlights of her SUV swept the whole street. Even though she had travelled these streets a hundred times before, they seemed alien to her. She felt lost, lonely and scared, the news she had recieved only an hour ago still played in her mind over and over again like a stuck record player. There were only a few people awake on the streets, mostly homeless who stood hudled around fires. The noise from the engine was the only thing she could hear and it sounded rude and cold . She turned on the radio, Kelly Clarkson was on, singing "Since you've been gone" which did'nt help cheer up Kate at all, but she let her continue to sing, it was better than silence anyway.

Her phone started ringing, surprised, she looked at her screen, it was her boss.
"Hello?"
"Hello Kate, where the hell have you been?" asked her boss.
"Sorry sir, I was sort of busy, there's a situation, I'll explain it later." Kate replied,
"Where are you Kate?"
"I'm heading for HQ sir."
"Report to me once you return, remember, call from a secured line, got it?" he asked.
"Yes sir."
Kate heaved a sigh, and put her phone back in its dock. She took a look around.
Seeing a brightly lit petrol bunk, she glanced at her dials and realised that she was low on fuel. She signalled and steered into the bunk. After filling up her tank, she went into the main building to pay up and buy some chocolates.

20 metres away
Four men sat in a black Ford truck observing the woman. The man in the front took out his radio,
"We have her in sight, over."
They'd been following her for the past 5 minutes, after having traced her cell phone signal, it had been easy. Now they sat and waited for her to come out.
2 minutes later, she came out, got into her JEEP and pulled back onto the road.
They gave her a headstart, waited for a few seconds and then began driving in the direction she'd gone. They were'nt in a hurry, now that they'd picked up her cell phone signal, they had her on a digital leash. They drove without the head lights on, relying on their night vision goggles to guide them.
Turning around a corner, they caught sight of her vehicle. They followed her from a distance, so that she would'nt notice them.
They followed her patiently, waiting for an empty stretch of road where no one would identify their truck.
After 5 more minutes of silent stalking, they were on a empty stretch of road. The driver slammed on the pedal and the vehicle accelerated, the truck rammed into Kate's SUV, knocking it off the road and into a tree. The force of the impact bought the tree crashing onto the vehicle, flattening the roof.

Two men got out of the truck, taking out a smoke grenade, they tossed it into the SUV. They hoped that the poisonous gas would do its job.
They got back into their truck and sped off into the dark.

so, how was it???

Silence Kills!!

Part 1
12.50 AM
He slowy poured whiskey into his glass, lit a cigar and sat down to admire the beautiful view made by the moonlight that swept over the city that lay at his feet.

He smiled at the fact that he was sitting in one of the most expensive houses, sipping one of the most expensive whiskey and also that he was smoking cigars that cost $300 each. Los Angeles looked like a playground from his house sitting on the slopes of Hollywood Hills. As he indulged in his luxuries, he thought about how he'd reached this level, it had'nt been easy and honestly, he thought, he had one of the most toughest jobs in the world! All the troubles he'd conquered, all the dangers he'd faced, he felt he deserved what ever he had.

But he'd run into a serious problem this time, he had thought of various possible solutions to it, and had come to the conclusion that his last preference was the best. That was why he was here tonight, or he would have been at a movie, his second interest after his job.

He convinced himself that there was no other way, his job came before anything else, and who could blame him? It was his profession that had bought him this far in life.
As he waited for his girlfriend, Kate, to arrive, he thought of all the good times they'd had. He had known the relationship was one of risks and danger, but Kate's love had blinded him. He still wished he could do something to keep their relationship alive, but there was no other way. So he sat and waited, Kate was supposed to meet him, and she was already an hour late. But John was patient, his job required patience, so he lit another cigar after throwing the butt of the previous one.

*Ding!*

John stood up, leaving his whiskey glass on the table, went to the door. Unlocking the bolt, he opened it. As always, Kate left John breathless,

"Hello" he stammered.
"Hi" she smiled.
"Come on in" he said, stepping aside to allow her to enter. She walked in, removing her coat, which John took and hanged behind the door.
Kate took out her pistol and placed it on the table, along with its harness.
"So," she asked," what was so important that made you call me during work?"
"You look beautiful Kate" replied John. Kate blushed," Thanks".

"I called you because what I have to tell you is really important" said John.
Kate moved towards him suspiciously, "What is it?" she asked.
"All the strange killings that have been taking place, well....................."

No one heard the scream that issued from the isolated house. The moon sank lower and lower, and no one, not even John could have guessed the amount of attention Hollywood Hills would receive the next morning.

PS: I'll continue the story, but before that, please leave your comments about this segment.

Silence Kills!! - Things go wrong

Part 2
Kate sat in the corner of the living room, sobbing uncontrollably. She took one teary look at the room and let out a wail!

After what seemed like hours to her, she got up, dropped her pistol on the table went to the bathroom, and washed her face, after taking a sip of water, she took out her phone with trembling hands, there was no tone.
She headed for the main door, picking up her pistol as she went. Removing her jacket from behind the door, with one hand on the doorknob, she took one last look at the room, sniffing, she went out, got into her car, and pulled out of the driveway.

After descending the mountain, she tried her phone again, there was a tone, she dialed a number,

*ring-ring*
"Hello, Cain here,"
"H-h-hel-lo" Kate stammered, taking a deep breath, she said, "Mike, Kate here."
"Kate!" replied the Special Agent, Michael Cain , sounding thoroughly relieved, "where did you disappear, you did'nt even inform anyone, and your phone was out of reach too!"
"I-i'm sorry Mike, but i'm on my way" replied Kate.
"Is something wrong Kate, you sound different" asked Michael Cain anxiously.
"Actually, there's something I have to tell you, i'll be at HQ in another 40 minutes" said Kate.

6 miles away
A man staggered out of his car, he was panting, sweating and was bruised badly. Everything had gone wrong, he still couldn't grasp how he'd failed this time, after all, he was the best, having never failed before. After the initial shock and horror, a new emotion came over him, panic, fear. He was in deep deep trouble now, he wondered what his boss would say, wondered what he should do next.
Slowly and grudgingly he took out his phone.

Tried something new!!!!!

Yay!!!!!

Honestly, i'm not the easily-compatable-with-a-computer type of a guy

except for orkut, tickle and hotmail, i have not tried anything else related to the internet, finding it utterly boring and a complete waste of time

luckily a friend enlightened me about this, and being a writer, i was curious,

don't know what to start my writings with,
any suggestions???
