Chords and expressions

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Those are the lyrics for one of my favourite songs to cover.
Ok, I gotta be honest, it was the first proper song I learnt and it's really easy to play, more importantly, it's the first song I learnt to sing.
I admit it, I'm a good musician, I can handle a guitar and piano fine, I'm confident enought to say that. But singing is woah! It just throws me off. Call it being tone deaf or whatever, point is, I need help!
I guess that's one of the reasons I'm so adamant about writing original songs rather than covering artists. I can write it the way I can comfortably sing it. No breaking donkey imppressions here.

If you play an instrument, give it a try. Pick it up, play a random chord progression. Try to fix a rhythm to it. I find it hard to write lyrics, play an istrument and get a tune all at the same time hard. I particularly have a problem with lyrics.
So this is what I do, read random stuff, but with a tune. I doesn't matter what it is (hell, I once sang the application form for a drivers licence). The first part is to get a tune right.

Then comes the lyrics. I usually go with the flow and it almost always ends up being about straight roads, cloudy skies and coffee :\
However, it also helps if you're naturally inspired by a situation, and if that doesn't happen, take up a subject, and then write the song about it.

That's it for now, I could've done better with it, but a friend needed the basic guidelines asap, so I just penned it all in a hurry.

Feel free to put in your thoughts
Cheers =)

You're a musician. Wow.

I dont there isnt a soul who hasnt atleast once wanted to be able to play some instrument.

I know I have, many times. So I could lend music to what I wrote.

Off the tangent, why this blog name? So odd coming from a musician.

Thanks for dropping by btw.
